brief update on my life, writing etc

Hello there, flisters.
I thought I'd post to say that yay! I'm still around, and boo! where did the past 8 months go?I've been completely absent from LJ for a couple of RL reasons this year, ranging from sucky to good. My mum got sick (cancer, she's still having treatment, prognosis looks good *all the fingers crossed*), my course got intense (I passed), and the bit that got squeezed out was my fandom life. I'm sad I didn't get to write my drabbles, and I still haven't replied to my erised comments, which is shocking really. I want to, but it's been so long now... Anyway, if you suddenly get reply notifications, I hope you can be understanding about why it's taken so long.
I also haven't written at all, or even read much fic, nor looked at LJ this year. But I find myself circling back to fandom, as I always do. I loved watching Mad Max: Fury Road earlier this year, and I've dipped my toes into the MM:FR and MCU fandoms, but it's still Harry and Draco who have my heart. I've been reading the HP books to my kids - who are now totally obsessed - and it's been great to immerse myself in Harry's world. I've signed up for erised again, and have a lovely little fic half-written for it. I think I have to resign myself to the fact that I'm not going to have much time for writing for now, but that doesn't mean I don't care or don't miss it.
I've been reading through my flist the past few days, stalking everyone, and happy to find out how you have all been doing.
Apart from the fandom side of my life, everything else is okay. It's been a tough year, but my kids are doing great, I'm taking more time for myself and loving studying, I've discovered decluttering, I finally got my hair cut after years of not getting round to it, and I've rediscovered the joy of napping.

Date: 2015-10-02 04:18 pm (UTC)I'm sorry your mother got sick, but I'm so glad the prognosis looks good. And yay to passing your course and the kids doing well. Very cool that they are into Harry Potter. I can't wait until mine are little HP fans with me.
I miss your writing, so it's very exciting that you are writing for Erised. Maybe you can't write as much as you like, but all words and good as Tryslora is always reminding us. ;)
Glad to hear from you and that you are lurking! *hugs*

Date: 2015-10-02 04:57 pm (UTC)I'm bummed that you don't have much time for writing. I always love your stuff! Sort of makes me want to kick and stomp my foot, and make you write fic just for me, but I do know how rl messes with our ability to multi-task. I look forward to Erised and hope there will be time for more down the road. Glad you have resurfaced.

Date: 2015-10-25 03:08 am (UTC)I'm stuck back home with my parents in the suburbs (I love 'em but the repetition is Dursley-esque), and I'm waiting for the UK home office to approve a residence card so I can be reunited with the love of my life. I would be totally unbearable, but your writing is killing me softly with its sweet lingering romance and tolerable and believable smut. Everyone I know who ships Drarry either already knows you or recommends you before I can even say 'Omi'. And if you don't continue to write fanfics, please, write anything - your style has to keep going. Please, keep up the good work, it may be saving my life.
